Carolin Shining is a trial attorney who has earned tens of millions in settlements and verdicts for her clients.  She is currently engaged in elder abuse, trust litigation, contested conservatorships, and commercial litigation.  Over twenty-five years as an attorney, she also has extensive experience with intellectual property, mass torts, personal injury, employment discrimination, and consumer class actions.

Ms. Shining is currently a Trustee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  She is on the Board of Governors for both the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.  Carolin also represents proposed conservatees as a Court Appointed Counsel for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.  

She attended the University of Michigan Law School (1990) and Michigan State University (1987, Biochemistry).  She is licensed to practice law in California and Illinois.  Since 1991, she has been a Registered Patent Attorney.  She is admitted in numerous federal jurisdictions including the Northern, Southern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.    She has been named a Superlawyer from 2020 through 2025.  She has written numerous articles for the Daily Journal and Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine.
